The MARVEL project aims to monitor antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in the Arade estuary and the surrounding coastal areas, generating scientific knowledge to support more sustainable environmental management. AMR is an emerging environmental problem and represents one of the greatest threats to global health. MARVEL aims to establish a critical baseline for AMR monitoring, enabling the identification of key mitigation points and the formulation of regional environmental management strategies, cross-sectoral collaboration, and awareness-raising and literacy initiatives amongst local communities.
